Job Description

As our Senior SQL / DB Engineer you are a critical part of our team. You will work directly with our Clients on a daily basis, gathering their requirements, developing and maintaining solutions, and solving day-to-day issues as they arise.

Responsibilities, include:

  • Creating reliable, scalable, and performant stored procedures and functions within Silverdale
  • Designing and creating data structures to support business processes using data modeling best practices
  • The SQL Engineer will complete code reviews for Data Systems team members, ensuring code adheres to Silverdale standards and practices and is robust, scalable, and performant.
  • You must have a strong passion for excellence, focusing on execution and influencing innovation, quality, and predictability for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain system integrity with routine refactoring and optimization of stored procedures and user-defined functions
  • Adhere to coding standards and contribute to enhancing them as needed.
  • Participate in project requirements review.
  • Document new and existing processes.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and design and implement effective indexing and performance tuning strategies to create and maintain a performant code base
  • Work with non-technical Silverdale and Client teams to assist in providing necessary technical insight when drafting business requirements.
  • Attend technical calls with clients that involve Data Transfers (imports / exports) or custom development work
  • Share daily updates with the systems engineering team via SCRUM (work completed, work pending, and/or impediments)
  • Create data structures (tables, keys, and constraints), views, stored procedures, user-defined data types and functions, and other SQL Server objects as needed to create robust, scalable, and performant solutions to implement technical specifications and support future, anticipated requirements
  • Collaborate with other team members
  • Creating and modifying complex stored procedures, views, triggers, and user-defined functions
  • Creating efficient and scalable physical data models using tables, keys, and constraints
  • Analyzing query plans to identify and correct complex performance problems
  • Communicating effectively and respectfully both written and orally
    Multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
  • Collaborate effectively to achieve stated goals and results
  • Troubleshoot common database issues
  • Prepare program specifications; to code, test, and debug computer programs
  • Interpret technical information related to computer programming and other areas of data processing. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or related field (desired)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in database management
  • Extensive knowledge in writing and supporting ETL processes across multiple platforms and differing technologies
  • Advanced skills using database query and management tools (Query analyzer, etc.) and Structured Query Language (SQL) (MS SQL Server preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of SQL development skills including stored procedures, functions, tables, indexes, triggers, views, etc.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse user base in a competent and professional manner
  • Experience with technical system quality assurance (QA) and testing methodologies
  • Problem resolution skills
  • Project and time management skills
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)

Note:

Working hours are Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm, US East Coast hours.
